Tokyo-based designer Tsumori Chisato has brought out yet another bold collection for her Resort 2017 line. The collection is largely inspired by her visit to Cuba last year. And it’s easy to tell! It is colourful and has Latin American accents like puff sleeves and layered skirts.

But that’s not the only fun part of this collection. She uses a maraca design throughout it. And the maracas have red lips and moustaches. How cute! This design is found on a tee shirt, dresses, socks, and even earrings. It was definitely a fun addition to the collection. There are also a lot of birds in the designs which is pretty fun too. They are oddly adorable.

The colors she chose for the collection were perfect. Most pieces are black and white but there are reds, blues, and pinks thrown in too which is pretty. They work really well together.

And it wouldn’t be a bold collection without some bold patterns. This one has a few. The previously mentioned maracas being one of them. But there is also checkered plaid, strips, and different abstract designs.

This collection has a lot of different shapes and styles but they work well together. Most of the skirts and dresses fall below the knee and most of the clothes are a loose fit. Though there are a couple pieces that are a little more form fitting.

If the Resort collection isn’t really for you then you might enjoy the Spring 2017 collection more. It has the same Cuban inspiration but focuses more on their fabrics than instruments. The fabrics she uses are beautiful! This collection is more colorful but it works. And it’s a little less out there than the Resort collection. But still very bold and different.

Both the Resort and Spring 2017 collections are fun, colorful, and bold. If you are interested in any of the pieces from the Resort 2017 collection check here.  http://www.hmr.jp/shop/r/TC
