In Japan, a maneki neko, or “beckoning cat,” is a common sight in shops, restaurants and other businesses as a kind of lucky charm. Medicom Toy has reinvented this classic figurine in the style of its popular Bearbrick toys, only this one is called a Ny@brick, a play on words incorporating the sound that cats make in Japanese.
Medicom previously released a silver and red Ny@brick, but the latest version of its “Money Cat” is a striking gold with a face reminiscent of traditional maneki neko and a tail printed on the back.
