Adidas Men’s Originals【adidas SPEZIAL】Manchester Marine

Hot on the tails of this year’s special United Arrows edition Tobacco sneakers comes a release of yet another sought-after kicks collaboration. Oi Polloi, an influential menswear retailer based in Manchester, UK, has teamed up with the German sportswear brand to produce a limited edition of the Handball Spezial. This particular reinterpretation of the classic, low cut sneaker has an old-school UK vibe and would look just as much at home on the streets of Tokyo as it would on university campuses.

The Manchester Marine is crafted in deep blue suede with royal blue accents in the form of zigzag stripes and a heel tab. A black rubber sole adds subtly cool comfort to the shoe, while the tongue is decked out in the iconic Adidas trefoil motif. The phrase ‘MANCHESTER MRN’ printed in metallic gold above the shoe’s outside stripe provides an impactful finishing touch.

The Adidas Spezial Manchester Marine was released in late November at select retailers, and has already sold out in many places. However, Adidas Japan still has stock available, so if you haven’t snatched yours up yet, now is your chance.

Gudetama Japan’s Favorite Depressed Egg

Introduced last year by Sanrio—the company behind such iconic characters as Hello Kitty and My Melody—Gudetama was a hit in Japan from the start. And ever since his appearance at San Diego’s Comic Con this year, Gudetama’s popularity has reached beyond Japan to an international level.

Gudetama is the picture of angst, which may be why people find him so relatable. He’s a yellow egg yolk that is the embodiment of severe depression, clinging to his shell for security and never able to face the world beyond.

As with all of Japan’s most popular mascots, Gudetama has an extensive line of merchandise available for purchase. There are relatively pedestrian items such as pens and notepads, and some more imaginative ones like pen cases in the shape of a mayonnaise bottle or omelette. More imaginative products include erasers shaped like sushi rolls with Gudetama in the center, egg shaped paper clips, and an organizer box that looks just like a tiny fridge. Sanrio’s products are available only in the Japanese market, but don’t worry—we’ve got you covered!

Order your favorite Gudetama goods from Japan Goods Finder and we’ll ship them to you anywhere in the world!

Kidea: Bandai’s Disney Wooden Toy Collection

Bandai, the iconic Japanese toy company responsible for everything from toy cars to action figures, has teamed up with Disney to produce a series of retro-looking, durable wooden toys. Young children love to play with blocks, and these ones are not only sure to last for generations, but the faces of some of the most beloved characters in the world will delight kids from around the world.

In addition to basic building blocks in bright colors and geometric shapes, there are wooden faces representing characters from favorite films including Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, Alice in Wonderland, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Snow White, and many more. Of course, Mickey, Minnie and their Friends are also available. Pick and choose the ones you want and buy them separately, or get one of the handy sets of either characters only or a mix of characters and blocks. To give your little one a challenge, try the Winnie the Pooh balance game, which asks children to stack Pooh, Owl, Tigger, Eeyore, Rabbit and Piglet atop a honey pot shaped like a half moon.

The Kidea collection of wooden Disney themed toys is only available for sale in the Japanese market, so start planning now for holiday and birthday gifts for the special kids in your life. Place your order through Japan Goods Finder and we’ll ship it to you anywhere in the world!

Nintendo Famicom Mini is Classic Gaming That Fits in the Palm of Your Hand

Nintendo already announced that it will be releasing a miniature version of its classic NES gaming console in the West, but now we have learned that the company will also be giving customers in Japan an exclusive chance to purchase another retro machine.

The Famicom Mini is based on the design of Nintendo’s classic Family Computer console, only much smaller. This pint-sized machine includes two controllers and is loaded with 30 classic games released between 1983 and 1993, and all of that will fit in the palm of your hand. It can also be connected to the television using an HDMI cable.

Games included on the Famicom Mini include Donkey Kong, Mario Brothers, Pac-Man, Super Mario Brothers, The Legend of Zelda, and many more. It goes without saying that all games are in Japanese, but none of them are exactly text-heavy, so we expect most people will be able to get the hang of them pretty quickly.

The mini Family Computer is due to be released on November 10 and will only be available in Japan. Pre-order yours now so you can be sure to get in on the action. The retro cool console is sure to impress your friends, especially since you would normally have to make a trip to Japan to get it. Order now and we’ll ship it to you anywhere in the world once it’s released!

Limited-Edition Star Wars Samurai Stormtrooper Figure

What would you get if you crossed a Stormtrooper with a Japanese samurai? Thanks to famous Japanese sculptor Takayuki Takeya, we now have an answer to that. The artist has created a series of strikingly lifelike and detailed Star Wars figurines for Japanese toymaker Bandai. The latest edition—now available for pre-order and shipping in March 2017—is a Stormtrooper reimagined as a samurai foot soldier with a bow and arrow.

Traditional Japanese influences can be seen not only in the figure’s choice of weaponry, but also in its armor and helmet. In addition to the bow, arrows and quiver, it comes with a complete Japanese sword set (full-length katana and a shorter dagger). There is a traditional samurai crest on the front of its armor, and a shield protects one arm.

It’s no surprise that the samurai imagery seems to fit right in with George Lucas’s Star Wars characters. Lucas was famously inspired by Japanese culture and was a big fan of director Akira Kurosawa’s movies. Darth Vader’s helmet and armor was directly inspired by samurai leader Date Masamune, and it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume there is some similar influences in the Stormtrooper costumes.

Earlier editions of Takeya’s Star Wars figures have sold out quickly, so be sure to pre-order yours early to ensure it’s yours come March. Simply place your order through our request form and once it’s released we’ll ship it to you anywhere in the world.

New Nikon x Millet Camera Bags

Whether you’re a seasoned photographer traveling the world or a hobbyist exploring your city, you need a bag that can carry your gear and extras while still looking cool. Look no further than the latest series in the long running collaboration between Nikon and French outdoor brand Millet.

The two companies have been working together for a decade now, giving them plenty of time to perfect their exclusive products. The current collection includes eight different bag styles in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes. There’s a compact hip bag that can also be worn as a sling and holds a smaller digital camera and extra lens, as well as your wallet and cell phone. There are also backpack, shoulder bag and messenger bag styles in different sizes.

All of the bags employ the quality you can expect from Millet, which has been making rugged outdoor bags since the early 1920s. Some of the bags offer high water resistance, with a specially coated fabric and watertight zippers that keep your gear dry even in a downpour. Others are designed to look more like an everyday, casual backpack, but with padded, divided inserts specifically made with camera equipment in mind.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Nikon’s collaboration with Millet, every customer who purchases a bag from the latest collection will receive an aluminum water bottle as a free gift. The series is only available from Nikon’s Japanese shopping site, but place your order through Japan Goods Finder and we’ll ship it to you anywhere in the world.

Funny Japanese Commercial Shows You How to Cool Down

Earlier this year, Japanese beer and beverage company Kirin released a TV commercial to promote is seasonal Hare Nodogoshi alcoholic drink. Marketed under the same brand name as its popular Nodogoshi beer, the product was made only in limited quantities for the summer season.

To promote Hare Nodogoshi, Kirin launched a media campaign that included a popular and entertaining television commercial. It features two superhero-like characters representing the north wind and the sun, as well as two unsuspecting young women who are enjoying a day relaxing in the outdoors.

First, the north wind character creates a storm around the two women, with dark clouds and swirling winds that strip their bathing suit coverups from them, leaving them in only their bikinis. Next, the other character makes the heat of the sun increase until the two women are fanning themselves and wiping away sweat, but the only thing that will truly cool them down is a drink of Hare Nodogoshi, which they conveniently have in the cooler next to them.

The commercial was met with a positive response throughout Japan, which likely led to the product’s success this summer. Hopefully Kirin will release something similar next year, but in the meantime you can check out the famous commercial above.
